DIY #3 - Window Box

As Ben says... I am window-challenged. I just can't figure out how to cover them. Maybe it's because I just prefer the light to come in- though I realize this becomes an issue at night.

Well for the baby's room I decided I was going to make my own little window box/valance thing to go at the top- and then we'd put a roman shade below. We're not entirely sold on the roman shade right now- mainly because I just wanted plain white and could only find one with a border- but also because said shade lets in a fair amount of light and maybe curtains would look better? I don't know. But I do like the little box I made for the top! A little bit of plywood, some L-brackets, glue, fabric, and trim and voila! (There was also a fair bit of cursing done by Benny Boy when hanging- but we've moved past that).

And here's Charlie wondering what the heck we're doing hanging out in what he has decided is HIS room.

Amie, you are so crafty! I so want to see the baby's room in person. I can't believe she is going to be here so soon. Love you!

Fun idea! Where did you find the fabric? And that rug.. um.. is it from Ikea? If so, I have the same one in Tuesday's room!

Joce- the fabric is from my local fabric shop... but Jaimee recommended two really good online fabric stores to me where I got the fabric for my chairs.... reprofabric.com and hartsfabric!
