Long Weekend in Pebble Beach

We joined Grandma and Bearpa up in Pebble Beach this past weekend for a little R&R and to celebrate Bearpa's birthday. I know I always go on and on about how much I love it up there and think it's the best place on earth- so I'll keep it to a minimum this time. I will say that it was very difficult for us to leave, and we were debating squatting permanently at Uncle Bear's house. Lucy had even started calling it "home."

Lucy was a fan of the bagpipes at Spanish Bay and said she wanted to "play" them. When he came a little closer she got a slight bit more suspect. May have been the skirt.

Ben obviously thinks Lucy is the cutest and most amazing thing on the planet. But her Sunday attire melted him more than usual. I personally think the Ravens owe Miss Lucy a thank-you note for her support- allowing them a crushing win. Wish she could have done the same for my FFL team which is currently sporting a record of 1-1-1... I'm in 9th place out of 14... I haven't given up hope yet. Just need a running back with any semblance of talent.

Forts and the Dictator. Lucy loves forts right now. So we made one in the house for her to trap the dogs in. Uncle Bear also has this amazing 'playhouse' in his yard that is fully furnished with heat and all. Lucy hosted 'tea parties' where she served raisins (that only she and the dogs were allowed to eat), many times a day. It turns out she's quite the bossy boots and is comfortable throwing out commands such as, "SIT!" "NO!" "MORE!" etc. I'd say bringing a brother into the world would teach her some moderation- but I fear she's just going to boss him around all the more. The tea parties could last quite awhile and I took to offering her chocolate to come out.

Looks good from this angle! Here- it's much easier if you just put it in the hole with your hand dad.

Watching Grandma try to hit. And running away to do somersaults!

Pigtails are very popular with Lucy right now. And quite cute if I say so myself...

Our family friends, the Gouldings, were visiting too!

Beach time. Charlie taught Lucy how to dig.

We decided to take Highway 1 home through Big Sur. Over the winter there was a lot of damage to the road with storms- but we checked and it was "open." Well that didn't mean that there was no road work occurring, and the trip took a couple extra hours, much to Ben's dismay. It still was a beautiful drive, and everyone was very patient and took it in stride (except maybe Ben). We did pass a beach that was flooded with sunbathing seals. Shark bait and my nightmare.
