Ben's observations of Stagecoach (Country) vs. last week's Coachella (Indie Rock):
1. At Coachella, they basically strip search you at the gate to keep out drugs and weapons. At Stagecoach, you pass on through. Can't take a cowboy's gun from him...
2. At Coachella, beers are limited to fenced off beer gardens. At Stagecoach, you can take your beers anywhere - as cowboys need something to wash down their ribs with.
3. At Coachella, there are male hipsters everywhere sporting short shorts and neon. At Stagecoach the men prefer full blown overalls and the occasional plumber's crack.
4. At Coachella you get a lot of head nodding to the music- it's very uncool for hipsters to dance. At Stagecoach, we prefer to line dance...
Ben managed to live through 7.5 hours of this, and for that he truly must love me, as country music is certainly not his cup of tea. That said, he did buy two cd's while we were there and made me hand over my cowboy hat for Billy Joe Shaver to sign after his performance.
Ben and his new friend, Billy Joe Shaver...
