Finally the Weekend

After what seemed like an epic long week... we finally made it to the weekend.  All week we've been working during the day, Ben's been running from apartment to house for random appointments with security, electricians etc, and then at night we've been shuffling stuff back and forth and trying to make some sense out of where everything is.  We've been sleeping at the house since Monday night and apart from a few minor things here and there- all has been going smoothly.

Random things being:

Me not knowing how to turn off the new alarm, and at 1:45 in the morning when we got in last night - having the thing go off full blast deafening me and making us a lot of friends in the neighborhood.

Charlie deciding that the new leather couch in the family room is his new throne, jumping on it every time we leave the house and scratching the hell out of it, causing Ben to want to kill the little guy.  Luckily I discovered a convoluted trick via the Internet, where you rub olive oil on the scratches, lay a damp cloth on the couch, and then rub a hot iron over it.  Apparently this brings natural oils to the surface. All I care about is that I still have a living peek-a-poo in the house.

And then this morning, when we got up to let the dogs out of the house what did we do?  We locked ourselves out.  In our pjs and all.  So we had to harass a neighbor to call a locksmith out, and Ben's officially in a foul temper cursing both dogs and house.  Joys of homeownership!

Last night we went out in Venice.  Hilary's sister's in town and we also half-heartedly celebrated Jimmy and Kaylie's engagement, though Ben and I actually just pouted the whole time that they decided to move to North Carolina.  Boo.

you can also try first popping a few balloons in front of charlie and then putting a bunch of filled balloons all over the couch when you leave the house...that sure taught me to stay off the couch...
