Your Basic Weekend

We had your basic weekend this past weekend.  But we NEVER have a basic weekend, so for us this was monumental.  We were in town and had zero plans.  Which was amazing but for the fact that it's now Sunday night and work returns tomorrow...

We literally futzed around like regular people this weekend.  We had Trish and Sean over for a BBQ last night, which was awesome, even though those two always make us feel like complete wastes of space with all their triathlon activities and workouts.  Ben and I had gone for a 4-mile run earlier in the day and literally high-fived each other at the end thinking we were super amazing, and then at dinner Sean was telling us how he had done a 14 mile run and a 2 mile swim earlier in the day and all our self-satisfaction was gone.  The guy is doing the Malibu triathlon next weekend, but even still- they are ridiculous.

Today I had bookclub.  We had read "Shantaram" which was seriously so good and universally praised by the group.  I ended up hosting last minute as our original host got tickets to the VMA's.  VMAs vs. Bookclub... tough call.  Anyway.  Since the book is set in Bombay I decided it was only fitting to make Indian food.  Never again.   I love to cook, but Ben came into the kitchen at one point to see if he could help and the curses were flying out of my mouth.  It helped that I was also making tomorrow night's dinner, which required some wine in it, so I popped open a bottle and used that to help me through my intro-to-Indian.  The girls were very civil and totally humored my disastrous mess.  Ben was smart and went surfing during the estrogen fest- so all was well at Chez-Lucas.

Not much else to report except that I have NOT forgotten my chair re-upholstery project.  I picked up fabric this weekend, which I am quite pleased with.  The yellow is most likely the back while the stripe fabric will be the front of the chair.  Less and less sure how the actual re- upholstery is supposed to happen, but I guess getting the actual fabric is half the battle?

Also- a video of me having a discussion with Chuck Norris.  Ben took it and thought the lighting was quite artistic and wanted me to post it.  Yes. I am a crazy dog lover and yes I like to talk to and kiss my puppies.  Whatevs. They are the cutest!
