May has kicked off with a bang and a busy weekend to boot. Friday night was a gathering at Hilary's before First Friday on Abbot Kinney. We celebrated Jana's birthday a couple days early, (even Penny the puppy sported a hat in her honor), with ice cream cake, pizza and beer. I would also like to take a moment to pat my own back- as it was around this time that I seriously impressed everyone with my insane hoola-hooping skills. No joke. I'm awesome.
No night is complete without a run-in with the Oscar Meyer wiener truck.
On Saturday I went down to Costa Mesa for a wedding shower for the one-and-only Mary. It was so great to see her and celebrate her upcoming nuptials to Kyle. I also exhibited more of my completely useless skills there- winning a quiz on celebrity weddings. Yay me!
Saturday night we had dinner at Emily and Brady's in Hermosa. We showed them how fun we were when we both fell asleep on their couch around 9:30.
Sunday was Jana's official birthday, which we celebrated at a brunch at the Viceroy. The all-you-can-eat buffet was put to the test by our hungry pack. I personally loved the cheddar grits and frosting filled cookies the best.
And then Sunday evening, we went to a charity dinner for an organization Hilary's involved with called Impacting Hearts. It was really awesome to hear all the testimonials and meet some of the kids involved in the program. It's a mentoring youth group for foster kids in the LA area. Ben and I were inspired. It also happened to be in Marina del Rey and there were great views of our little beach town.
Now we're just home- waiting for our new fence to be completed so we can get on the road to Pebble Beach. I can't wait to take the pups down to the beach so they can run around like bats out of hell. Hopefully they're done in the next day or so... leisure time's a-wastin.'
