Last night, Ben and I made a rare trip to Hollywood for the Sanctum premier at the Grauman's Chinese Theater. Ben's old roommate, Mike, in NYC was a producer on the film and is out here for the release and got us tickets to go along. Ben was hoping to pull out the ol' tux and have a Hummer limo take us to the show, but was told that might be a bit much...
To be totally honest with you- if we didn't know Mike - I wouldn't have had a ton of interest in this film from just the previews. I don't know- maybe not my kind of movie. I never saw Avatar either... And after the first 15 minutes of the movie- I was worried my fears would be confirmed. That said- after you get through the initial set-up of plot and characters, the action really takes over and I found the movie to be a very entertaining watch, if not extremely stressful. I literally had to turn away from the screen a few times while gripping Ben's arm saying, "oh I can't watch! I can't watch!"
James Cameron (Ben now feels entitled to call him "Jim"), is a producer as well, so the movie is full of all his 3D magic. I give the movie a thumbs up. That said, just like after seeing Black Swan and deciding Lucy won't have a professional career in ballet, I now refuse to let my daughter take up cave diving and maybe scuba diving in general.

Lucy makes better movies than "Jim" anyway
i am quite envious of this post. this is what LA is all about. not too many movie premieres in the 'dam. i have not heard of this movie but then again, i haven't heard of most of the oscar nods. trying to hack them through the internet. managed social network, blue valentine and black swan so far.
that movie does look so scary!
i hate stressful.
i like butterflies and rainbows.
