On Friday after Alex and I earned lunch doing the Santa Monica steps, Ben had an inspired idea for where to eat. He's a pretty big fan of the TV show "Man vs. Food" where this guy travels around the US in search of crazy eating challenges. It's pretty gross- he downs 72 oz steaks in 23 minutes and eats burritos bigger than a basketball. Anyway- he also shows local eateries that are famous for one reason or another. Last week his show was based in LA and he featured this French-dipped sandwich shop called Philippe's downtown - so off we went. We literally spent about an hour in the car for 10 minutes of eating- but the sandwiches were deemed excellent and the mustard was as spicy as promised.
In our rare venture into the depths of Downtown, we also happened upon the American Apparel warehouse- so Ben quickly turned into the lot and we sampled the wares. Benlooked dead sexy in this tank.
And lastly- I've been desperately trying to grow flowers and color in my yard. I planted 150 rananculus bulbs back in October and only ONE came up. I think something ate the rest or they rotted or something. Clearly not my novice gardening. Anyway- here are sole spoils of the garden so far- 2 rananculus flowers and 2 mini roses. My ice plants are starting to burst though so I do have high hopes for hot pink flowers all over the yard in the next couple weeks.
