My Beautiful Bay Area

We were up in the Bay Area this weekend for Mary and Kyle's wedding (congrats you crazy kids!) We decided to head up a little early on Friday so Ben could get in a round of golf with Mike. Sadly, a delayed flight that had Ben cursing up a storm at the institution of Southwest and air traffic control everywhere, had us running a tad on the late side. We landed and he took a cab straight to the course and I stood in a 40 minute line for our rental car.

Poor Ben's day didn't improve too much as he didn't exactly have his best round of golf ever, and then later that night at Chez Atwood, he also seemed to struggle with Wii golf, causing him to truly question his life, purpose, and inherent talent the next morning very mournfully. He's seems more mollified today, so hopefully we can see a full recovery over the next week...

After I finally got my car, I cruised into San Francisco and met up with Bryan Cameron for a delightful tea time at the Mandarin Oriental. He was kind enough to let me have run of the menu as I went on to order something off each page. The baby was hungry. Then it was time to meet up with Sarah and the boys for a tasty and enjoyable little meal at Sociale in the Pacific Heights neighborhood. We always have an amazing time with the Atwoods, and this was no exception- though I do think Ben would have liked a rematch in golf.

Saturday was a fun-filled albeit, rushed, day. We hustled out of the city down to the Bay Area where we were to rendezvous quickly with my parents who were in Palo Alto for the day, before meeting up with Jaimee and Dave, before heading to Mary and Kyle's wedding. It was amazing to see my parents, though a ridiculously short visit of about ten minutes. Bearpa has been shopping again- the man really needs to not be within sight of a baby store... In addition to a couple of very darling little outfits and a sporty carrier, my dad also found this hilariously cute little bomber jacket for our little Peanut. Since she's due to come out with wings on with all her pre-birth travels, and a couple of of post-birth trips already on the horizon- we think this will be quite the travel ensemble for her to sport. Also fun because both my dad and sister fly, and Ben's gramps was a bomber pilot in WWII. My baby will be so hip. I did a side pose on the right to display my rapidly growing midsection. I swear it popped another 5 inches Saturday night alone.

Then it was off to the festivities! Thank God we were going with Jaimee and Dave, because I was very convinced (blame it on the pregnant brain?) that the wedding was at 3:15 in Los Gatos, but evidently it was at 2:30 in Burlingame. Needless to say we were running shamelessly late- but we did make it in time and it was gorgeous. Everything was perfect and beautiful, most of all the bride. The speeches were awesome and very touching, and the open bar was flowing, though obviously not for this mamma. I did really enjoy all the finger foods and this tasty pot of cheese thing that came with the salad though, so that softened the blow of no wine. It was very fun for me to see the old high school buddies as I so rarely get to my hometown anymore. I was pretty nostalgic the whole time because Los Altos rocks.

And this morning... Ben playing with Miss Ava, who is too cute for words. This was after we had eaten our takeout from Hobee's which I refused to miss out on while in town and enjoyed thoroughly. My only regret is that I did NOT buy the tray of coffee cake to bring back to LA with me.
