From NC we headed directly to Grass Valley for the 4
th. It was hot in NC and it was hot in Grass Valley. Thus we continued with the water sports. It was doubly exciting getting to Grass Valley- as we were reunited with the PUPS who had been vacationing with Grandma and
Bearpa ("Papa" according to Lucy), for two whole weeks! We also got to properly celebrate Charlie's 6
th birthday with a cake and all. Lucy continues her love affair with frosting and sweets in general. On the actual 4
th- Lucy attended her first parade. I thought she was going to sleep through it all, but she woke up in time to catch a large chunk of it, meet some horses (we've also been asking, "where the
horsies?" ever since), and enjoyed some ice cream.
We made our way home to Venice the night of the 4th. Ben, Lucy and the pups were all asleep in the car when I caught the only fireworks to be seen this 4th. I do love fireworks- but firmly believe that the Nathan's hot dog eating contest is truly the must-see of the day and am very happy that Joey Chestnut (yay Bay Area!) won his 5th in a row!
We are home for a bit - this pregnant momma is pretty ready to just nest and maintain some semblance of a routine for now.
