The latest chapter in Ben's book, "Why I Love My Dogs" was written on Monday, when we took the pups in for a standard check-up and shots, and $300 later, Jackson came out diagnosed with an ear and skin infection, and was declared "a little on the heavy side."
Apparently our little ball of love is tipping the scales at 13.4 lbs, when he was originally supposed to be a 4-6 lb scrawny little thing. This could be a result of too many treats, too little exercise, the fact that he tends to eat his AND Charlie's food, or, as I like to believe, "big bones." Regardless, the vet said his weight is getting to his knees, and his kneecap is shifting on and off due to the massive load he carries.
I personally think our vet didn't get enough love growing up and is taking it out on Jack, but all the same, I'm heeding her warning, and have the pups on a minimized diet, am being VERY conservative with the treat giving, and am instituting a new cardio regimen for our morning walks. Think jumping jacks and sprints. Anything to get my husband to stop calling him 'Fatty' and saying we got ourselves a 'dud.' Look who's talking. While he has been a bit sickly lately, the poor guy's gonna get a complex.
Chuck Norris on the other hand, is in perfect health and amorous as ever to his special monkey "friend."
