(Our perfect hosts and their cat Ettore, who has begrudgingly given us his room for the week).
Yesterday was a museum day. Well, museums and shopping.
Another late start, and we were off to the Accademia to view the David. Not as impressive as my very own David, but pretty darn impressive nonetheless.

Despite a strict "No Photo" policy, Ben discreetly took a couple, with me hiding in another room, never one to break the rules.
As is our new habit, we rewarded our cultural visit with food, joining Kate for lunch of mini-panini's and cheese, followed by the oh so delightful gelato. Then we had to usher poor Kate back to work while we decided to do a bit of retail therapy. I purchased some new socks, and while minding my own business in the store, Ben wandered off to the men's section and came out sporting nothing but a European bathing suit, (aka a Speedo), much to the shock and humor of the three girls who worked there as he posed this way and that tightening his bum.
Ben was in the market for some "bespoke" items, a term I was not familiar with, but luckily, my metro-munchkin is. Kate had recommended a small shop near her gallery, which is going to give poor Zegna a run for its money as Ben's shopping haven of choice. Two shirts and a snazzy jacket later, Ben was pleased as punch and I was feeling rather frumpy.

We pushed on to the Uffizi, the main museum here in Florence. I had warned Ben it was predominantly Byzantine, religious art, but he felt a certain duty to visit this major landmark. After room 2 of 50 or so, Ben had abandoned our audioguide and was seeking all exits. My feet were screaming after making the rookie mistake of wearing heels all day, so it was about time to reward ourselves with some more hot cocoa from Rivoire. Heaven in my mouth I tell you.
We then went to cocktails and a lovely dinner with our amazing hosts. I can't go into much detail here as my head is screaming from the massive amounts of Limoncello Nicco forced on us to top off the meat, cheese, pasta and wine we had already ingested - making sure we're fully fed and unfortunately hungover before we head off to Venice this morning....
xoxo the little ball of burrata...
