Busy Weekend Fun

The long weekend has been full of fun little events- kicking off on Friday at the new restaurant, The Tasting Kitchen, on Abbot Kinney. Heidi was there too- but she always complains that I post unflattering pictures of her, and the one I have, is in fact unflattering of both her and myself. The food was awesome and we all ate too much. I was full after the appetizers- but luckily saved room for the following two courses and plenty of dessert. Phew!

I think Pete averaged two golfing rounds a day at our local little Penmar by the Sea course- though Saturday he and Ben ventured out to Moorpark Country Club to get in an official round of golf with the also expecting father-to-be two times over, Karl. Amalia and I ran a bunch of little errands on the Promenade Saturday morning (where a random woman saw my growing belly and tried to sell me on the merits of getting my unborn child signed up for commercial and advertising acting as a baby. Thoughts?) I also met up with Jen and Heidi for a little brunch and gab while the links were being conquered by the men.

Saturday evening we headed off to Dodgertown to watch the boys trounce the Padres in a very exciting game that included loads of foul balls for the audience, excellent caramel corn for yours truly, and a high scoring game of 7-4. In the foul ball department, we had one come directly at us at top speed- where Ben went diving for the ball trying to snake it from the girls in front of us- while I went diving behind him to protect my belly. The girls in front of us ended up with the ball, much to Ben's dismay, but they had the battle scars and welts from the ball to prove it.

The country's only professional fan was there shaking his money maker to full effect which we found entertaining too:

Sunday was the beautiful Miss Emily Felton's baptism. The pictures show a beautiful baby girl, but in person she's even more stunning. Those rosy cheeks! She's gorgeous and I'm in love. It was so great to finally meet her and to see Ann in person! Far too long since our last visit- and I relished every second of it. That and the cake at the reception... YUMMY. Unfortunately, the only picture of me and Miss Emily shows her being very displeased at my company- but I really believe this was because she was due for nap time, and not my incompetent mothering nature...

Sunday evening we went over to our neighbor's house for a little neighborhood BBQ- and then everyone came back here and passed out early except for me. I was inexplicably wired and stayed up way too late carrying on conversations with my dogs. Might be all the chocolate I consumed at the BBQ.

Now it's officially Labor Day and Ben and I have an aggressive and tiring itinerary of beach and sun. Wish us luck...
