Rainy Days and Potty Training

As I mentioned in the previous post- we had some rare rain in LA on Wednesday. While this may get old for people in other areas of the world- Lucy and I had a blast with the lazy day. We baked bread, went to the library where SOMEONE got her very own library card, listened to story time, and borrowed a batch of 14 books. This is her with her library card. She wouldn't hold still for the momentous photo opportunity.

We dressed up in boots and coats. Someone thinks princesses are pretty interesting- so we were trying to learn that even princesses wear boots and coats...

In other news- we've sort of taken a 'pass' on potty training thus far. Lucy has some books that discuss the topic, has her own little potty to look at and read on sometimes (occasionally use as a hat), and she loves pointing out when any animal is pooping- but I've sort of been hoping she'll just teach herself... I've also heard that any progress you make will disappear with a new baby- so was going to worry about it a bit more after Baby Boy's arrival. That said- the Goose was running around in her birthday suit yesterday, climbed on her potty and went poop. Needless to say- she was very proud of herself, we were very proud of her, and anyone reading this will have absolutely no interest in the topic whatsoever... But it was a milestone I think. I wouldn't say she's potty trained in the least- she was so excited she spent the rest of the day running over to the potty- sitting and jumping up saying, "I did it! I did it!" But perhaps she is indicating that she might be willing to start exploring the activity. So... that's that.

Also in other news- Lucy has always been a poor sleeper- but she recently is even fighting her nap. The ONLY way she will take an afternoon nap is if I walk her in the stroller for 2 hours. It's tiring, but it's also the only exercise I'm getting these days, and I also take the opportunity to read... yes read. So all in all- the walk/nap has been good to us. But a couple days ago- she said, 'no walk! no walk!' Freaked out for about 5 minutes- and proceeded to throw up all over herself, the stroller and her momma. So we turned around. And took no nap. I decided to force the issue the next day- I loaded her stroller up with snacks and distractions. She was really fussy- but after about 45 minutes gave up and I found her like this. Hopefully today goes smoothly. I don't know how I'll get my reading done, and I imagine my bum will balloon if we fore go this activity. And it would mean my 22 month old no longer naps at all and still sleeps poorly in the night. Not good news for anyone in the household.
