The Green Door

Post group dinner on Saturday night, Ben, Kate and I headed out to Hollywood for Jen's birthday at The Green Door. A far more exclusive place than I have any business being at, but we mentioned Jen's name and were swept in amidst the regular club-goers. Most of whom were decked out the skimpiest numbers I've seen in awhile. I think some of the LA talent officially traumatized Kate with regards to the skank factor... We saw Topher Grace (70's Show and Spidey 3) wander in wearing a tux, and accompanied by an entourage of boys and girls. They had their own private area, and I believe were all coming from an event at the Getty.

Happy birthday to Jen!

Ben got himself a new surfboard on Saturday, so he spent most of the day on Sunday testing it out down at Bay Street. Apparently now that we have two, I'm supposed to use the other one. That said, my fear of sharks and all things cold might limit my career as a pro-surfer.

Yesterday was a typical example of me trying to cram in a bit too much into one day- the end result being that I was behind on everything. There was some beach time during the day with Dad, all the merry chores. We had bookclub- where we chose Julie & Julia by Julie Powell, which is about how the author decided to cook all the recipes in Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking. I'm looking forward to reading it as I obviously love to cook. I got pulled over for speeding on my way home from bookclub- though the cop was nice and settled on a stern warning. And then there was dinner back at our place for The Wire viewing. Kate's friend Margherita is here for the fair as well and joined us for dinner. The pups fell in love with her as she fed them bits of cheese everytime they made googly eyes at her.

But now it's Monday and back to work- always an anticlimatic end to a fun weekend. I'm in denial that I have to take Kate to the airport in a bit. I wish she would just move next door to me already!
