Visitors, Art, and Eating...

We started off the New Year well. There has been lots of rain here in LA which is rare and needed (and by lots of course I mean a day or two). We went to Wolfgang Puck's restaurant "Cut" in Beverly Hills for the first date night of the New Year. Excellent meat there, though Ben was mortified when I ordered short ribs rather than a steak. Whoops! I think we still think Mastro's is the tops for steak in LA though...

Kate has been in town for about a week for Photo LA (http://www.artfairsinc.com/photola/2008/). This year it was held at the Barker Hangar at the Santa Monica Airport.

She got us tickets to the opening, where we proceeded to fall in love with a piece by Jay Mark Johnson "Stefano Arando a Dischi" - and.... we went back today and bought it! Impulse buy I suppose- but exciting for us. Of course it is all made possible by the amazing KATE - thanks for your help as always! It is way too big for our apartment- but I guess we're gambling that we'll get a house at some point?

It's always so amazing to have Kate in town- just feels like normal. I wish we could somehow convince her to stay permanently?

My Dad is also in town for a seminar- so it's been fun to have all the company! I have to somehow find a place for us all to eat tonight... always easy to squeeze in a large party at any decent restaurant on a Saturday night right?

Today was Vicki's baby shower- which was very fun. All the little baby toys are so adorable. She is glowing and beautiful! They aren't finding out if it is a boy or a girl- so lots of fun surprises coming up for them. Lots of the girls there were transplants from NYC, so it was fun to see so many people with similar backgrounds.

Off to go peruse opentable.com in hopes of a decent place to eat tonight.
