New York City

How fun and incredibly exhausting is NYC?

We took Virgin America to NYC this time. Bargain prices of $225 per round trip ticket- which is totally a steal. We did, however, blow another $50 on the plane between food (surprisingly tasty) and movies. I was fully immersed in "HSM3" (I heart Zac Efron) and Ben rented "Darjeeling Limited."

Chloe Sevigny (Big Love, "Brown Bunny," "Melinda Melinda") was on the flight a couple rows ahead of us - reading a script as Ben pointed out. You may all think I'm a celeb gossip whore, but he was jabbing me in the side every time she so much as moved. The airline has this feature where you can IM people in other seats. Ben was tempted to send her a message lauding her work in "Brown Bunny" as his favorite- but we discussed it and decided it would be creepy.

We got into the City around 11, dropped our bags and headed directly down to Tom and Jerry's on Elizabeth Street. Lots of kiss kiss on the cheeks and hugs to everyone in town. Eventually and predictably, the party moved onto 265 Elizabeth Street. Tom's invested in a karaoke machine which was a big hit. I had to sing in a corner without a microphone. Evidently everyone already knows the glory that is my pitch.

After rolling in closer to 4am than 3am, Manetti and I had the brilliant plan to go to bikram yoga at 10am. Due to severe dehydration and lack of sleep, I was a bit off in my poses and the teacher felt the need to yell at me regularly throughout the class. I was about to offer to go vomit on her foot, but Kate's similar look of misery kept me amused enough to finish the class.

Then it was brunch with Danny and Evan- which was followed by Spring Street Lounge (otherwise known as Ben's favorite place on earth) by Ben and his friends, while me and the girls went shopping and spent money- because that's what you do in NYC.

Already exhausted- it was suddenly time to get dressed up in gowns and penguin suits for the main event. The wedding was at the Church of our Savior on Park and 38th, followed by a reception at the Union League Club on 37th and Park. Ceremony was beautiful, food was excellent, and dancing was non stop.

THEN - the party continued at yet another bar.

We finally stumbled home and into bed around 3am- only to be woken rudely at 6:45 for our return trip home. We were less thrilled with Virgin America on the way home, but perhaps it was the lack of sleep, the packed flight, and the fact that our seats didn't recline that affected our experience. Regardless, we were ready to be home with the pups.
